What A Stunning Bird!

Updated: Jan 19

We have this little chap coming to our bird table most days. His feathers are so neat and trim; particularly when he is feeding at the peanuts, which he usually does upside down. I mean, there's never a feather out of place.

I wonder if the Nuthatch is actually a close relative of the Woodpecker because his feeding style is to 'jab, jab, jab' at the container of nuts just like a Woodpecker at a tree. We have a Woodpecker nearby, although we haven't seen it yet but we've heard it alright. A lovely sound too.

I don't know..... it feels like the birds who visit our table have become our pets; independent though they are. Don't you just love the cheeky Robin who glares at you through the window when the foods run out.....
